getting ready for oxford...
My last 'long' summer holiday has flown by, and by this time next week I'll be in Oxford, living the clinical school dream...
I haven't been up to much this summer - went on a short family holiday to Prague, then pretty much lazed around, visiting friends and generally larking about, as I didn't feel like spending my hols working this time!
I've been sent a fair amount of info from the Oxford clinical school regarding freshers' activities for medics, and I've also received the normal freshers' pack from my College (Balliol), about normal freshers' that will be starting in October (when everyone else's term starts!)... it's all sort of daunting and also exciting - it's a new place, new people, new scenery so it'll take me a while to get settled but hopefully things will work out OK.
I'm definitely looking forward to a change from the Cambridge preclinical course, which is/has been pretty book-based so far, so it'll be nice to start learning more practical and medically-related things (as opposed to biochemistry... but don't quote me on that)!
There's a fair amount of admin stuff I need to sort out, yet again numerous forms to fill in (I think I know practically the date of every immunisation I've ever had), and also books etc to buy, including stethoscopes (which don't come cheap!). I've also had awesome fun buying shirts and ties for clinics, but I don't think image is gonna help me all that much with my studies!
Anyway, I'll be writing soon with goss from the other side, but bear in mind it's now bye-bye Cambridge and hello Oxford ;) Hope you guys are all having a good summer, make the most of it before you start uni/A-levels!
