back to crazy routines...

hey guys,

can't believe i'm only 2 weeks into term... kinda getting used to all the 9am starts now - reminds me of the summer holidays when i worked in an investment co for a while... i'm staying more awake in them now, but not sure i'm actually taking anything in!!

we got our college exam results back, and i did OK (which was a relief!), despite being set outdated questions in our pharmacology supervision (don't get me started on our supervisor) and not understanding much of the neuro short questions!

the OCEP interview went OK too (fingers crossed), was more like an informal chat than an interview. however, they did ask me what i would do if i was taking 100 kids to the gym, got there and found the gym to be locked!! my answer was a typically medicky... get them to run around and do star-jumps to get their adrenaline going whilst we hunted for the missing key! will hear from the interview panel in 2 weeks, so nervous times!

having to do supervision work now - did an essay plan for human repro on fri, and had to write an essay on bacteriology yesterday! today i've got some trace analysis questions to do for pharmacology (basically analysing really weird practical data), which i'm sure will be endless hours of fun...

anyway, that's all that's happening in my world for the time being, will blog again soon!

first week sails by...

in general time flies when you're at university, esp here, seeing as the terms are so ridiculously short. i've only been here a week, and it feels as if i've been here for a lot longer!! so far so good - this week has been pretty laid back, because we haven't started any supervisions yet (so no supervision work), and the lectures aren't too bad...

the college exam we had on tuesday was okish, but i didn't have a clue about some stuff, which in a way is good cos at least u can identify your weak spots... the thing is though, it's not taken very seriously, and one of my mates left before an hour (and this was a 2.5 hr ppr) because he'd done as much as he could... which arguably wasn't a lot!

aaaaanyway, last night was the start of term college bop - the theme was 'superheros', and we had all sorts of crazy superheros, most of which i'd never heard of! bops on the whole aren't quite the same as going to a proper club, and the music is usually bad enough to rival ob-la-di, ob-la-da (was that song really the worst song ever?!), but on the other side you tend to know everyone there and have a pretty fun time.

unfortunately one of my friends fell and dislocated his shoulder, and had to go 2 addenbrooke's (the main hosp in cam)... still haven't heard back from him, so i hope he's ok...

not up to much this weekend - i've got a indian music concert next thursday, so might have rehearsals today or tomorrow... i've also got an interview for a summer placement in hong kong - you may have heard of OCEP - it's basically an education programme that recruits students from oxford and cambridge to go and teach english abroad, in places like china, korea, etc.

work-wise i've now got a 9am human reproduction lecture to go to (yea i KNOW it's a SATURDAY!) - crazy stuff!! will put up another post next week (i'll have my dreaded exam results by then...)

take care!

the start of a new term...

hey guys,

back to start a new term!!! can't wait for 6 9am starts a week... 'human reproduction' is added into our timetable now in addition to pharm, neuro and path, which is why things get kinda intensive. anyhow i've got a college exam on tuesday!! it's basically an informal exam set by our supervisors in each subject to see whether or not we've done any work over the xmas holidays - seems quite cruel, but in a way i guess it makes you do some work!!

sorry for the short post - i need to get back to packing - hopefully will make another post next week to give you all the juicy gossip... hehe!
